Foresight4Food meets stakeholders and potential facilitators in Bangladesh

November 9 – 15, the Foresight4Food team engaged with different stakeholders, potential research partners in Bangladesh to explore possible synergies for the implementation of the Foresight for Food System Transformation (FoSTr) programme.

These multi-level meetings were held in Dhaka and were represented by Jim Woodhill, Lead Foresight4Food Initiative and Just Dengerink, Country Facilitator for the FoSTr programme. The purpose of these meetings was to sit together with key policymakers to see how FoSTr could support national processes of food system transformation and to meet possible country facilitators and research partners for implementation of the FoSTr programme. The visit also aimed at gaining a better understanding of key trends and developments in the Bangladesh food system.

These engagements were met with interesting outcomes. The team saw strong support from key stakeholders in the Bangladesh government, such as the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Food. The team also gained more in-depth knowledge about the capacity and expertise of potential research partners and candidates for the role of country coordinator as well as a better understanding of key trends and developments in the Bangladesh food system
